Geordie Nats 2006
Flying should have started at 10am but the weather had other ideas. About 11:30 the wind dropped and rain eased, one of the dozen pilots who had booked in, Ewan Galloway took the opportunity to gain some flight time with a lovely demonstration from a 75’’ span scale electric Harvard. This enthused the other pilots to start their models and provide some very entertaining demonstrations from various models A Skyway F15 Jet flown by Andrew Rudden, a couple of aerobatic models Norman Robinson and Nigel Bowers and Tony Robinson, Steve Wilson flew the wings of his 35% Quicksomento Yak 54, Mike Bell had several flights with his own design Hangar Monkey, Ron Peterson, Steve Lough Terry Bailey, Ron Aitcheson and Gary Jenkins all provided entertaining flights to the spectators. Although we only had a limited number of pilots who were willing to fly, models were in the sky from 11:30am until 16:00pm almost non stop. Aero modellers through and through.
Trophies were presented by Pat Lutman daughter in law of the late Charlie Lutman,
founder of the first model shop in Newcastle, (the first model shop in the
world, founded around 1928) Charlie Lutman donated the Lutman Trophy in the
early 1950’s and the family have continued to show the area support ever since.
The North Eastern Area Committee would like to thank AMI International, Traplet and the Lutman family for their support and sponsorship. All the people who worked hard setting up this event, all the spectators and especially all the pilots for supporting this years Geordie Nationals in such extreme weather, I would like to personally thank Martin Nicholson, for allowing Annette And myself to take over his caravan and awning for TX control.
THANKS GUYS
